What is FyxLocal?
FyxLocal is a UK marketplace that connects people who need practical help at home — cleaning, gardening, DIY, furniture assembly, and more — with trusted, vetted local Helpers. Job posters post what they need; Helpers apply with their quote. Simple, safe, and local.
Is FyxLocal available across the UK?
Yes. FyxLocal operates across the UK. While the density of Helpers varies by location, we have Helpers active in over 50 towns and cities and are growing rapidly. If you don't see Helpers in your area yet, sign up and we'll notify you when someone nearby joins.
How is FyxLocal different from other job platforms?
Unlike classified ad sites, every Helper on FyxLocal is ID-verified before they can accept paid work. Unlike per-lead platforms, Helpers apply directly to jobs they choose — no cold calling, no bought leads. And unlike subscription models, there are no monthly fees for anyone.
Is my data safe?
Yes. We take data protection seriously and comply with UK GDPR. We never sell personal data to third parties. Your data is stored securely and used only to operate the platform. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
For job posters
How do I post a job?
Create a free account, click 'Post a job', and fill in the details — what you need done, your rough budget, your location, and your preferred date. It takes under 5 minutes. Your job is then visible to local Helpers who can apply.
How much does it cost to post a job?
Posting a job is completely free. You only pay when you accept a Helper's application and proceed to booking. The job price is whatever you and the Helper agree — there are no additional charges for job posters beyond the agreed job value.
How do I choose the right Helper?
Review each applicant's profile — their experience, the services they offer, verified badge status, star rating, and reviews from previous job posters. You can message any applicant directly before making a decision. Take your time; there's no pressure to accept immediately.
What if I'm not happy with the work?
Don't confirm job completion until you're satisfied. If you believe the work is genuinely substandard, raise a dispute through the platform before marking it complete. Our team will review the job details and any evidence provided by both sides and work to reach a fair outcome.
How are Helpers verified?
Every Helper must submit a government-issued photo ID (UK driving licence or passport) which is manually reviewed by our team. Helpers are not listed publicly or allowed to accept work until their ID has been approved. The Verified badge on a profile confirms this check has been completed. Can I get a refund?
The £4.99 platform booking fee is non-refundable. The job amount (what you agreed to pay the Helper) is held in escrow until you confirm the work is complete — if you cancel before the job starts (more than 24 hours ahead), this amount is refunded in full. If there's a genuine dispute about quality, raise a dispute through the booking page before confirming completion and our team will review it.
Is my payment information safe?
Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. FyxLocal never stores your card details on our servers. Your payment information is handled entirely within Stripe's regulated, secure infrastructure.
How do I leave a review?
Once you've marked a job as complete, you'll be prompted to leave a review for the Helper directly from the booking page in your dashboard. Reviews are only available to users who have completed a real, paid booking — this ensures all reviews are genuine.
Can I cancel a booking?
Yes. If you cancel more than 24 hours before the agreed start time, you'll receive a full refund on the job amount (the £4.99 platform fee is non-refundable). Cancellations within 24 hours may incur a partial charge to compensate the Helper for the time they reserved.
How do I pay?
All payments are made through FyxLocal via Stripe. We accept all major debit and credit cards, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay. Payment is taken at the point of booking and held in escrow until the job is confirmed complete.
For Helpers
How do I sign up as a Helper?
Create an account, select 'I'm a Helper', and complete your profile — add your services, skills, availability, and hourly rate. Then upload your ID for verification. Once approved (usually within 24 hours), you'll be able to see and apply for jobs in your area.
Do I need to pay to use FyxLocal as a Helper?
No. Creating a profile and applying for jobs is completely free. FyxLocal only charges a 10% platform fee when you complete a paid job. There are no monthly subscriptions, no listing fees, and no charges for applications that don't lead to a booking.
How does ID verification work?
During onboarding, you'll be asked to upload a clear photo of a valid government-issued document — a UK driving licence or passport. Our team manually reviews submissions within 24 hours on weekdays. Once approved, your profile displays a 'Verified' badge, which significantly increases your chances of being chosen.
How and when do I get paid?
You'll need to connect a Stripe payout account during onboarding. Once a job is confirmed complete by both parties, funds are released from escrow and Stripe processes your payout. The money typically arrives in your bank account within 2 business days.
Can I set my own rates?
Yes. You set your own hourly rate on your profile. When you apply for a specific job, you can also submit a custom quote — either a fixed price or an hourly estimate — depending on the nature of the work and the job poster's requirements.
What happens if a job poster raises a dispute?
If a dispute is raised, our team will contact both parties and review the job details, messages, photos, and any other evidence. Funds remain in escrow throughout. We aim to reach a fair resolution within 5 business days. If you believe a dispute is unjustified, provide as much evidence as possible — photos of completed work are especially helpful.
How do I build my reputation on FyxLocal?
Your reputation grows through completed jobs and positive reviews. Start by applying to jobs that genuinely match your skills, communicate clearly with job posters, and always deliver what you promise. Each review and completed booking boosts your profile in search results. Helpers with strong ratings and the 'Top Rated' badge receive significantly more applications accepted.
Can I do both — post jobs and work as a Helper?
Absolutely. Many FyxLocal users do both. When you sign up, you can select 'Both', or you can add the second role later from your account settings. Your job poster and Helper dashboards are separate but accessible from the same account.
Payments & security
Is it safe to pay through FyxLocal?
Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. We never store your card details on our servers. Your payment information is handled entirely within Stripe's secure, regulated infrastructure.
What is escrow and why does FyxLocal use it?
Escrow means your payment is held by a neutral third party (Stripe, via FyxLocal) until both parties confirm the job is done. This protects job posters from paying for work that isn't completed, and protects Helpers from not being paid for work they've done.
What happens if a payment is disputed?
If a dispute is raised before job completion is confirmed, funds remain in escrow until our team resolves it. We never release funds unilaterally. Both parties are contacted, evidence is reviewed, and a decision is made — usually within 5 working days.
Are there any payment fees for job posters?
No. Job posters pay only the agreed job price. There are no booking fees, service charges, or platform additions on top. The 10% platform fee is paid by the Helper from their earnings — not charged to the job poster.
