FyxLocal (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the FyxLocal platform at fyxlocal.com — a marketplace connecting job posters with local service providers (“Helpers”). We are the data controller for personal data collected through our platform.

2. What data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

Identity data

First name, last name, and username.

Contact data

Email address and telephone number.

Location data

Postcode, city, and approximate geographic coordinates used to match Helpers to nearby jobs.

Identity verification documents

Helpers only: a copy of government-issued photo ID (driving licence or passport) uploaded during onboarding. Used solely for identity verification and stored securely.

Payment information

We do not store card details. Payments are processed by Stripe. We hold transaction amounts, booking references, and payout status.

Profile data

Professional biography, skills, service categories, hourly rates, portfolio images, availability, ratings and reviews.

Usage and technical data

IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages visited, and analytics events.

Communications data

Messages sent between users via the in-platform messaging system and support correspondence.

3. How we use your data

  • To create and manage your account
  • To match Helpers with relevant jobs based on location, skills, and categories
  • To process payments and manage payouts via Stripe
  • To send platform communications, including job alerts and application notifications (see Section 4)
  • To verify the identity of Helpers prior to listing on the platform
  • To display your public Helper profile to job posters
  • To facilitate the dispute resolution process
  • To improve the platform through analytics and usage monitoring
  • To comply with legal obligations including fraud prevention requirements

4. Platform notifications and email communications

By creating a FyxLocal account you consent to receiving platform notifications and emails that are essential to the operation of the service. These are core operational messages, not marketing communications.

Helpers

You will receive job alert emails when new jobs matching your skills and location are posted. You will also receive notifications when applications are accepted or rejected, when bookings are confirmed, when payment is received, and when reviews are left for you.

Job Posters

You will receive application alert emails when Helpers apply to your jobs. You will also receive notifications about booking confirmations, payment status, and job completion.

These communications are essential platform notifications that cannot be opted out of while you hold an active account. They are sent via Resend from [email protected]. This is disclosed at account creation and is a condition of using the platform.

5. Legal basis for processing

  • Contract performance — processing necessary to deliver the service you have signed up for, including job matching, booking management, and payments.
  • Consent — analytics cookies (managed via our cookie banner).
  • Legitimate interests — platform security, fraud prevention, and service improvement.
  • Legal obligation — compliance with applicable law including financial regulations.

6. Third-party services

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

7. Data retention

  • Account data — retained for the account lifetime plus 12 months after closure.
  • Payment and transaction records — retained for 7 years in compliance with HMRC requirements.
  • Identity verification documents — retained for 6 months after account closure, then securely deleted.
  • Analytics data — raw events retained for 12 months; aggregated anonymised data retained indefinitely.
  • Messages and communications — retained for the account lifetime plus 12 months.

To delete your account and data, use the account deletion feature in Dashboard → Settings, or contact [email protected].

8. Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right of access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.

Right to erasure: Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention obligations.

Right to restriction: Request that we restrict processing in certain circumstances.

Right to data portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

Right to object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.

Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw consent at any time where processing is consent-based.
