How we keep you safe

Six layers of protection, built into the platform from day one.

Identity verification

Every Helper must pass an ID check before they can accept paid jobs. We verify a government-issued document — driving licence or passport — and confirm it matches the person behind the account. Verified Helpers display a 'Verified' badge on their profile.

Secure escrow payments

Job posters pay at the time of booking, but Helpers don't receive the money until the job is confirmed complete. Funds are held in escrow by Stripe — a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. Neither party can access the funds during the job.

Verified reviews

Only job posters who have genuinely completed and paid for a booking can leave a review for a Helper. This means every star rating on FyxLocal is authentic — no fake reviews, no unverified feedback. Helpers can respond to reviews publicly.

Profile moderation

Our team manually reviews every new Helper profile before it goes live. We check for completeness, appropriateness, and consistency with the verification documents provided. Profiles that don't meet our standards are rejected or asked to resubmit.

In-platform messaging

All communication between job posters and Helpers should take place through FyxLocal's messaging system before and during a job. This keeps a clear record if a dispute arises and allows our team to review conversations in case of a complaint.

Dispute resolution

If something goes wrong, our support team will step in to mediate. We review the job details, messages, and any evidence provided by both parties. Funds remain in escrow until the dispute is resolved, protecting both sides throughout the process.

Job Posters
  • Check a Helper's verified badge, reviews, and completed jobs before accepting.
  • Describe the job clearly and set realistic expectations upfront.
  • Keep all communication on the FyxLocal platform before the job starts.
  • Pay only through FyxLocal — never send cash or transfer money directly.
  • Confirm job completion only when you're satisfied the work is done.
  • Report any concerns immediately via the dispute function or our support team.
Helpers
  • Only apply for jobs that genuinely match your skills and experience.
  • Communicate clearly and respond to messages promptly.
  • Always confirm the scope of work and any additional costs before starting.
  • Keep all payment conversations on-platform — never accept direct payment.
  • Take photos before and after work as evidence of job completion.
  • Report unsafe or inappropriate behaviour to our support team straight away.

The verification process

What happens when a Helper applies to be verified.

Submit your ID document

Helpers upload a clear photo of a valid government-issued ID — a UK driving licence or passport. The name must match the account registration details.

Manual review

Our moderation team reviews the submission within 24 hours on weekdays. We check the document is genuine, in-date, and matches the account details.

Verified badge awarded

Once approved, the Helper's profile displays a blue 'Verified' badge. This badge is visible to all job posters when browsing or reviewing applications.

Payment security

All payments on FyxLocal are processed by Stripe — a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor trusted by millions of businesses worldwide. We never store your card details. Stripe handles all card data in their secure, regulated infrastructure.

Funds are held in escrow from the moment a booking is confirmed until both parties mark the job as complete. If a job is disputed, funds remain frozen until our team makes a decision — nobody can access the money unilaterally during an active dispute.

Report a problem or concern

If you encounter something that feels unsafe — whether it's a suspicious profile, a request to pay outside the platform, or behaviour that makes you uncomfortable — please report it immediately. We take all reports seriously and investigate every one.
