1. About FyxLocal

FyxLocal (“we”, “us”, “our”, “the platform”) is an online marketplace that connects individuals seeking local services (“Job Posters”) with verified local service providers (“Helpers”). FyxLocal is not a party to any agreement between Job Posters and Helpers — we provide the platform, payment infrastructure, and dispute resolution service only.

By creating an account or using FyxLocal you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the platform.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • You must be legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom (Helpers only).
  • You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when registering.
  • You may not create more than one account without our prior written consent.

3. Account registration and responsibilities

When you create a FyxLocal account you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information including your name, email, and location.
  • Keep your login credentials secure and not share them with others.
  • Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
  • Take responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • Keep your profile information up to date.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that provide false information, violate these Terms, or engage in fraudulent or harmful behaviour.

4. Platform notifications

Consent to platform communications

By creating a FyxLocal account you agree to receive platform notifications relevant to your account activity. These are essential platform communications, not optional marketing:

  • Helpers will receive job alerts matching their skills and location. This is a core feature of the Helper service and cannot be opted out of while the account is active.
  • Job Posters will receive application notifications when Helpers apply to their jobs. These are essential to using the job posting service.

These communications are sent via email from [email protected]. They are required for the platform to function correctly and are disclosed transparently at signup.

5. Helper verification

All Helpers must complete the following before being listed on the platform:

  • Upload a valid government-issued photo ID (driving licence or passport).
  • Complete the profile including display name, service categories, and location.
  • Connect a valid UK bank account via Stripe to receive payouts.

Verification does not constitute an endorsement of quality of work or guarantee of results. Job Posters are responsible for satisfying themselves of a Helper's suitability before booking.

6. Payment terms

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. By making a payment on FyxLocal you agree to Stripe's terms of service.

The £4.99 platform service fee is non-refundable in all circumstances. This fee covers platform administration, payment processing, and identity verification costs.

Payments are held by FyxLocal until the Job Poster confirms job completion. Upon confirmation, the Helper receives their agreed price minus the 10% platform commission. Payouts are processed via Stripe and typically arrive within 2–5 business days.

7. Cancellation and refund policy

Either party may cancel a booking before the job commences. The following applies:

  • Cancellations made before payment: no charge to either party.
  • Cancellations made after payment: the job value (agreed price) will be refunded to the Job Poster. The £4.99 service fee is non-refundable.
  • Cancellations must be made via the FyxLocal platform. We are not responsible for arrangements made outside the platform.
  • In the event of a dispute regarding cancellation, FyxLocal's decision following the dispute resolution process is final.

8. Prohibited conduct

You must not use FyxLocal to:

  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent listings, reviews, or profiles.
  • Circumvent the platform payment system by arranging payments outside FyxLocal.
  • Harass, abuse, threaten, or discriminate against other users.
  • Upload content that is offensive, illegal, or violates third-party rights.
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract platform data.
  • Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.
  • Engage in any activity that is unlawful under the laws of England and Wales.

Violation of these rules may result in immediate account suspension and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement authorities.

9. Dispute resolution

If a dispute arises between a Job Poster and a Helper, the following process applies:

  1. Either party may raise a dispute via the booking page within 14 days of the scheduled job date.
  2. FyxLocal will review the dispute and may request evidence from both parties.
  3. FyxLocal will make a decision within 10 business days and communicate the outcome to both parties.
  4. FyxLocal's decision on disputes is final and binding.

FyxLocal acts as a neutral mediator only and is not responsible for the outcome of work performed. The platform service fee is not refunded as part of any dispute resolution.

10. Intellectual property

All content on the FyxLocal platform, including the logo, design, and software, is owned by or licensed to FyxLocal and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the platform without our prior written consent. By uploading content (such as profile images or portfolio photos) you grant FyxLocal a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content on the platform.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • FyxLocal is not liable for the quality, safety, or legality of services performed by Helpers.
  • FyxLocal is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from your use of the platform.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the platform shall not exceed the total fees you have paid to FyxLocal in the 12 months prior to the claim.
  • Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraudulent misrepresentation.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or via a notice on the platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of FyxLocal after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
